Should Ford keep or get rid of the modular engine family?

With the announcement Ford wants to have a branded engine family again, the question has come up what would they use or what name would they bring back? Some people have suggested bringing the "cammer" name back on the modular engine family.

Should Ford just design a new engine family, or keep the modular engines? If they design a new V-8 based engine family, should they keep overhead cams, or go to a modern pushrod engine like GM and Chrysler?

1. The Mod was a compromised design from the start. Its length dimensions were mandated by the directive that it fit transversely in the Taurus-based Lincoln Continental, WHICH THEY NO LONGER EVEN MAKE!!

The engine certainly has potential, as the GT has shown, but they might be better off starting with a clean sheet and no compromises. Whether they go the OHC or pushrod route is irrelevant, as long as it makes good power, gets decent mileage, and sounds good, IMHO.

2. Trash it and bring back the real motors. Hey Ford , does a two door coupe with a 6.1 liter Hemi with a six speed make your mouth water like river after a rain storm ? not to mention that other thing coming back to life with a fire snorting small block . Trash that bearing eating underpowered waste in our pony , And give us true rodders back our Rods !!!!!!
