Another Engine Option for Mustang GT?

Would people like another engine option for the regular GT?

Right now the only V-8 option for a regular GT is the 4.6L 3-valve. Would it be cool to have the option of ordering just a regular GT with the standard 5.4L 3-valve motor that's in the trucks? I know Ford's planning to bring back the 4.6L DOHC motor for a future special edition, and possible a blown SOHC 5.4L, but what about just offering the regular 5.4L as an option for the GT?

If Ford didn't charge an arm and a leg for it, would people choose the bigger V-8?

What do you think 5.0 Nation?

1. i am a very big mustang fan. but i think we should go back to are roots of muscle mustangs. why not a big block? don't get me wrong i love the small blocks. but there is something about having a big block under the hood. years ago ford had built a 427 sohc hemi headed big block. and with todays engine tech and fuel injection that baby should purr. if ford can price them between 30,000 and 50,000 i think they would out sell the gt 500. i mean you have jack roush building a 427 s197 mustang. but thats not cubic inch only hp. for $50,000 throw in everything. even a roll cage,suspesion,etc.i know thats alot of wishfull thinking but a big block would be a big change. i mean who would of thought that dodge would come back with a hemi. so why not show them ford has one that is even better. right!! thanks from dave broken arrow, okla

2. Love the magazine . I'am 44 years young and have had nothing but Fords cars (Mustangs) fourteen of them .My first car was a 1971 cougar with a 351 3 speed . I had new ones used ones from 1979-2002 models . I'am currently redoing a 1982 GT I found in south Florida all stock ,t-tops recaro's all there. To the point, Mustang's are starting to lose touch with real people the way the group of stang banger's I hang with . I said this once before . How can the other american car companies make great push rod motors smog and mileage legal and we get stuck with this high tech nightmare. I love my 04 lightning . I wonder what the 351 in my 93 lightning would have become with today's tech on it . I don't think Ford will bring back the push rod , Can you imagine the horsepower we could have plus the torque. Then throw on a supercharger!!! . I would like to see more engine choices ,yes put the 5.4 in and keep it basic a/c and p/w that's it . What else do you need in true pony ride? I miss the true mustang days back in Syr

3. I personlly think that a bigger motor is called for but not a 427. I'm think something along the lines of the 302 and 351 motors again. They had their lime light but I think its time they came back. Leave the options of the 4.0 and 4.6 just add the 5.0 and 5.8 to list. Ford wouldn't know what to do with all the money they would be dragging in if they just added the 5.0 and the 5.8 to the list.

4. ^^ pushrod motors are not as efficent, emmissions also play a large role in keeping mod motors.
