We Adore Our New Door

5.0's West-Coast Hauler Gets Long-Overdue Repairs

Convenience, and security are just a couple of the reasons why we have enclosed trailers at our Florida and Southern Cali locations. Obviously, the trailers are used to haul various vehicles, but they also occasionally serve as storage vessels--garages, if you will-- for cars and such, whenever necessary. So, imagine our concern when we noticed the door on one of our car carriers had finally deteriorated to a point where something had to be done...

Dave Rifkin of DS Racing (Simi Valley, California) is the braintrust behind the creation of our trailer's new, STEEL side door.
DS Racing installed three of these ball-pivot hinges to support the new door. Each hinge is rated at 1,400 pounds, so we shouldn't have any problems in the future.
It's hard to believe, but forty feet (two, 20-foot sticks) of steel was used to create the side-door structure.
For convenience's sake, Summit Racing's three-tier storage shelf (PN SUM-939305) was incorporated into the construction of our trailer's new side door.

...Yes, the combination of a heavy wood door and a cheezy hinge setup, along with the jostling and vibration a trailer is subjected to, and weather-beaten/rotted wood added in for good measure, had taken its final toll on the side door of our 28-foot rig. To make things right, we commissioned master race-car fabricators Dave Rifkin and Ryan "Junior" Schotzel of DS Racing [Simi Valley, CA, (805) 990-2158] to build-from-scratch a brand-new, triple-locked, steel-framed door for our SoCal-based, 28-footer. We even added a few trailer accessories from Summit Racing (three-tier storage rack, ratchet-strap hanger, fuel-jug rack), and a HalGuard fire-suppression system from H3R Performance. "Work of art" and "thing of beauty," are two very fitting descriptions for the finished product, and we're now ready to drag our once-again "fully" enclosed trailer to wherever we need to be! Thanks, guys!
