By now you know that E85 offers race-gas octane at pump gas prices, and we’ve seen some Mustangs making huge power on “corn.” Doing so could easily be the “green” way for Mustang enthusiasts to go racing in the future.

As such, we’ve decided to put together an E85 Mustang Shootout this fall at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois, in conjunction with Center Ethanol, Illinois Corn Growers, and Illinois Corn Marketing Board. Our goal is to see just how quick Mustangs can conquer the quarter-mile running E85.

The rules are simple: Have a Mustang set up to run E85. That’s it. Now, we want to pick the best cars running a variety of combinations, so if you want to participate, send us some snapshots of your car along with a description of its combination and to-date performance on the dyno and quarter-mile.

We’ll review the submissions, then pick 10 of the baddest E85-burning ’Stangs to square off at Gateway in mid-October.

So, what are you waiting for? Get your submissions to us by no later than September 5, 2008. Send them to 5.0&SF E85 Shootout, 9036 Brittany Way, Tampa, FL 33619 or 5.0mailbag@sourceinterlink.com.
