Well, this just in, I'm no bracket racer. My driving is about as consistent as my writing. That said, I had a great time driving Factory Five's Type 65 Coupe.
Powered by a Ford Racing Performance Parts 347ci crate engine, the 2,400-pound car was a blast to drive. Though it is really set up for the road course, the big rear tires gripped pretty well, and I was able to run in the 12s at around 111 mph. The sound and feel of the car was great.
Sadly, I was all over the 12s in my one time trial and two rounds of qualifying. By the time I got a real handle on the car I underestimated its performance and broke out in a big way in the first round.
It was a great time, and I really can't believe this much fun can be had with a $15,000 kit. Sure you have to provide the drivetrain and build it, but this car hauls tail and turns heads like cars far more costly. Check it out at www.factoryfive.com.
