Here I thought HID lighting was as good as it gets. Like any technology, there are always improvements and Phillips says it has an upgrade in a bulb. I might just have to try these on Project Vapor Trail. Check out the release after the jump...
Farmington Hills, MI... Philips Automotive Lighting North America, a division of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG), has introduced the new Philips CrystalVision 5000K, a powerful, high performance Xenon HID headlamp bulb that was specifically developed as a lighting upgrade for vehicles equipped with Xenon HID headlamp systems. Philips CrystalVision 5000K is the whitest, most brilliant automotive headlamp bulb available on the market. It is designed to dramatically improve driving vision at night by producing a light that is 25% whiter than standard HID headlamp bulbs.
While most Xenon HID headlamp bulbs operate at color temperatures around 4,200ºK, Philips CrystalVision 5000K operates at 5,000ºK. As a result, the beam produced by CrystalVision 5000K is much whiter and closer to daylight than the light created by any other headlamp bulb.
Philips CrystalVision 5000K bulbs are street legal and DOT compliant. Based on Philips’ recommendations to always replace headlamp bulbs in pairs, it is offered in a two-bulb package for D2S and DR2 applications.
Philips Automotive Lighting North America, a world leader in automotive lighting technology and inventor of the halogen bulb and Xenon HID lighting, provides a full range of DOT compliant lighting for replacements and upgrades. In addition to Philips CrystalVision 5000K, Philips upgrade bulbs include Philips X-treme Power – the brightest halogens available, delivering up to 80% more light than standard; Philips NightGuide – maximum safety halogens with tri-color beam technology; Philips MotoVision - high performance halogens for motorcycles featuring 40% more light than standard and a unique orange reflection that helps motorcycles stand out from traffic; Philips VisionPlus – enhanced safety halogens that deliver up to a 50 ft longer beam, and Philips CrystalVision Ultra – Xenon powered halogens that provide the bright white Xenon look.
