Mutant Mustang

The Lengths One Goes to for an "S197"

OK, at first glance, "an '05-present Mustang GT minus fog lights," would more than likely be your answer if someone were to ask you, "what kind of Mustang is this?"

What's going on with this Pony?

It's an '05-'09 Mustang GT, right?

I couldn't believe what I was looking at...New Edge, dropped in the weeds, sittin' on dubs...and sporting an S197 nose. Unreal!

The powerplant isn't too shabby. I didn't get specifics, but the Mutant Mustang's engine seems to have quite a few go-fast goodies.

I'd like to say that you would theoretically be correct, but in the case of this Mustang I recently came across here in SoCal (where else), I just can't extend that much leeway. If I did, I'd be forced to turn in my 'Stangbanger card...immediately!

The customized 'Stang you see here isn't an S197, not by any stretch. I'm even hesitant to call it a New Edge 'Stang, as this combination honestly has left me sort of lost about how it should be categorized. OK, yes, by VIN it's a New Edge ('99-'04), but apparently the owner wants it to be more than just your average New Edge. From what I could make of it, the front end appears to be the combination of a kit and some radical bodywork. The 'Stang sits on dubs (20-inch wheels) and has been dropped in the weeds via a complete air bag system. Under the hood there's a Two-Vale 4.6 that's boosted with an intercooled ProCharger P-1SC, and ZEX nitrous!
