I'm going to lighten things up for a Friday, and not talk about a Mustang, or 'Stangbanger, or a part/tool, or anything like that. Key rings, of all things, are the subject of today's Blog entry. If you're wondering why in the world would I pick "key rings" as the subject today, the thought came to me this morning, when I reached to pull my keys down from the hook hanging up in our kitchen and saw the wide variety of rings that all of my household's keys are attached to.
The sight made me start thinking about the years and years and years that have passed, during which I have amassed a very large "collection" of key rings. Many of the rings (I remember when they were called key "chains") were received at various automotive and racing trade shows and events that I have attended or participated in over the years, even before I became Technical Editor of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords. In our industry, aftermarket performance-parts companies use key rings as a method of marketing and promoting their products and brands, and they come up with very cool and creative miniature replicas of products, or catchy slogans and attach them to the wire rings. Many businesses, schools, churches, clubs, etc do this as well.
I've got quite a few key rings that I think are interesting. The photo represents just a handful of them, and I'm sure many of you have more rings than you can remember as well. Even though "how many slogan-type/promotional key rings do you have" is the $64,000 question, other good questions are: What do you consider to be the "cool" key rings in your collection? What makes them interesting? Where did you get them? Do you have any that have significant importance for some reason? It's time to share, gang. Post a few comments and let me know your thoughts (if you have any) on key rings.
