I really enjoy covering the NMRA's event at Atco Raceway. Well, I really enjoy covering any Mustang drag race, but the Atco race gives me an opportunity to swing into New York and visit with my parents, family and as many friends as possible for at least a day, before I head down to the track in southern New Jersey.

For the last two years we've incorporated hooking up with a 'Stang shop and doing at least one tech project while I'm on the East Coast. This year, we've increased that number and will be visiting THREE Mustang-performance businesses and doing some killer tech stuff that will appear in upcoming issues of 5.0.

The house shown in the photo is the house your Tech Editor grew up in. This is where all the building, tinkering and modifying of Mustangs started, and there have been plenty of 'Stangs that have sat on the driveway. This year, Ford's 2008 Mustang Bullitt is my mode of transpo for the NMRA event and the first stop on my tech tour...

My dad and the Bullitt. Yeah, pops wears a bucket hat, too!

The '08 Bullitt is the latest in Ford's lineup of special-edition Mustangs. Inspired by the 1968 'Stang that actor Steve McQueen raced through the streets of San Francisco in in the movie "Bullitt," this Pony features the signature Dark Highland Green paint job and mesh grille of its predecessor (the '68 Bullitt didn't have unique emblems/badges of any sort...this one does), a bunch of cool and unique interior applications, and 315 crankshaft horses that give it plenty of zip as well.

I guess it doesn't matter where you live, it's always cool to bring a 'Stang home. My dad really liked this one, so maybe he'll have his own Mustang parked in the driveway the next time I return.
