It's been more than 11 years since I loaded up my truck and moved from New York to Los Angeles. The most-memorable things about my cross-country journey are not all of the miles I drove, even though it's impossible to forget all of those miles. The things I remember most are the sights I saw along the highways and roads we traveled, through states like Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico, etc.
"Seeing America" from a road-trip perspective really brings the beauty and greatness of our country into focus. I joined Paul and Ronda Svinicki (of Paul's High Performance), former NMRA Factory Stock racer, Jeff Schmell, and the rest of Hot Rod Magazine's "Drag Week" caravan as they toured the Mid-South region of the United States. I rode along as the convoy rolled to Montgomery, Alabama, Memphis, Tennessee, Bowling Green, Kentucky and all points in between them, and had one heck of a great time...
It definitely was a long trip (that will be detailed in an upcoming issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords), but I'm glad I had the opportunity to make it. Keep an eye out for the full story. For now, here are a few images from the road.
