The first thing I have to do is give an apology to those of you who dial in and take time out of your busy days to read my somewhat daily musings. As I let you know a few Blogs ago, I have been (literally) traipsing up and down the Northeast Corridor for the last two and a half weeks, working on tech projects at various Mustang shops between New York and Virginia.
A lot was accomplished and I'm looking forward to giving you the details in the magazine. However, for the sake of good suspense, I think I'll throw you a few photos of some of the things we worked on, so continue to check my Blogs from this point forward to catch some of the teaser shots...
There's no tech-related teaser shots in this Blog. Right now, I want to tell you about the vehicle I jockeyed for the second week of the tour. You probably remember the '08 Mustang Bullitt that I started my trip with (check photos and info here in the Blogs section of the Web site). I drove the Bullitt for a week and definitely enjoyed the opportunity to check out the very cool 'Stang. I then switched rides and finished the tour with a 2008 F-150 Harley Davidson Edition.
The Harley truck definitely is special for '08, as it has been done up to commemorate the motorcycle company's 105th anniversary! Folks dug the Bullitt (the Dark Highland Green paint was popular), but this truck was absolutely raved about everywhere I drove it, including the Mt Vernon Drag Racers Association's annual cookout (they're called cookouts in New York, as opposed to "barbecues" everywhere else) and car show. The MVDRA is dominated by Brand-X loyalists, but all of the club's members gave Ford's cool-ass F-150 a thumbs up and let me park it among other trucks that were in the show.
While the 2008 F-150 Harley Davidson Edition looks great with its Black and Copper color scheme inside and out, the Saleen-supercharged (with intercooler, of course), 5.4-Liter bullet under the hood is the star of the show. With 450 horses and 500 lb-ft of torque at the crank, this baby definitely hauls!
I gave the truck a good workout in my travels up and down Interstate 95, and enjoyed getting "thumbs-up" acknowledgements from truckers and bikers who were riding Harleys. It's fast and super comfortable, and actually got pretty good gas mileage. Look at it as a heavier Lightning with a lot more comfort and styling niceness. Like I said, the Chevy boys at the car show were all over it. In my opinion, that says a lot.
