Yesterday, while caught up in an e-mail discussion about project cars and taking them to the dragstrip (the discussion actually was more of a friendly diss-fest between myself, Associate Editor Mike Johnson, Big Steve and Modified Mustangs and Fords' head honcho Mark Houlahan), the topic of "wheels-up" launches came to the forefront. A comment was made about Project T-top Coupe's lack of launch elevation in a photo I attached to one of my contributions to the chat--the same photo you see leading off this Blog entry.
Yes, in this shot, the coupe definitely shows a vertical deficiency. However, I must throw a disclaimer out there: The car was launched from a 900-rpm idle, withOUT using the transbrake. With 830 horses at the back tires, I'm pretty confident our project 'Stang is more than capable of hanging the fronts when it leaves home, in a manner that probably will be quite similar to the way many of the NMRA Mustangs that we love to watch, reach for the sky when the light turns green...
