As the E85 Challenge came to a close, I had the chance to talk with several of the participants and their crew members. Darron Evans, a member of Kyle Stepp's Fox brigade had run into tech editor KJ Jones at WFC X, where he told KJ he didn't approve of the Fox 500's modular destiny.
"It should have a pushrod engine," Darron pleaded. Well, as he has followed the car's slow but steady evolution, Darron has embraced the car's mission, and is even excited about it.
While telling me about this roll reversal, Darron also shared that he has owned of 31 Fox Mustangs. A painter by trade, Darron used to repair the cars and sell them for a profit. He has since decided to retain his Foxes, as clean ones are hard to come by.
Darron even expressed interest in lending his talents to the Fox 500 cause. so now he'll just have to make a case to KJ about those convertible mirrors he wants me to install.
