2010 Mustang Meets the Masses

You Know Something Must Be a Big Deal if Big Steve Travels to Cali to See It!

What a night! That's about all I can say, after having the privilege of attending Ford's 2010 Mustang "Reveal" event, held on November 18th, 2008, inside Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Myself, Editor Steve Turner, and many other members of the automotive media, and literally hundreds of hard-core Mustang enthusiasts were all in the house, and super-excited about being among the first "civilian/non-Ford" folks in the world to have an in-person look ("reveal" photos hit the Internet earlier in the day on the 18th) at the Pony that starts another chapter in Mustang's history book.

The event was broadcast live on television by The SPEED Network, but I'm including a video clip of "Twenty-Ten's" dramatic entrance, just in case you missed it. Check the photos and the vid, after the jump...

"Ladies and gentlemen, presenting..."
Big Steve got to meet US Army soldier, Kory Chesher at the 2010 reveal event. Kory was at the event to receive keys to his Twenty-Ten Pony, a car he won after submitting the best "why I love Mustangs" essay, over thousands of entries.
Hotness.
Each guest received a diecast replica of a 2010 Mustang convertible. Having it signed by all of the "legends" was the thing to do.
OK, the bottom line here is, the 2010 Mustang really is pretty hot!
The new tail lights retain the "tri-bar" style, but they look a lot better than those of '05-'09 Mustangs.
The interior improvements are highlighted by softer, more-plush leather seats.
The new Mustang received cool interior changes. I dig the center console and new dash look.
Ford didn't waste any time adding a supercharger to Twenty-Ten. According to Bill Glidden, there may be supercharged, "Signature Series" 2010 'Stangs at some point in the future.
The 2010 Mustang marks the return of "Sunburst Gold." It's my favorite 'Stang color, and might be the hue we use on Boss 340.

The 2010 Mustang Reveal definitely was a night to remember. Even though the night belonged to the new 'Stang, Ford's awesome collection of famous race Mustangs really was something to see: Bill Glidden's '89 GT 10.5" Outlaw car, Joe DaSilva's twin-turbo Pro 5.0 ride, the Tasca Ford '69 Boss 429 Mustang, Parnelli Jones' 1970 Boss 302, Dorsey Schrader's Motorcraft-sponsored road-race 'Stang, John Force's Mustang funny car and several others.

Mustang "legends" such as Carroll Shelby, Steve Saleen, Tommy Kendall, Jack Roush, Bill Glidden, John and Ashley Force, and others signed autographs for just about anyone who wanted something signed (the diecast 2010 Mustang replicas that we all received as gifts were popular for autographs. Who knows...maybe they'll be worth something on ebay one of these years).

It definitely was a great night to be a 'Stang fan. From the car show that was held in the large parking lot (Big Steve was there early enough to get pics of that, so look for them in one of his blogs), to the actual roll out of Twenty-Ten, it all came together as one awesome time, and I'm really glad I was able to be there.
