If you read any of Jamie Slone's blogs on running in the Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup last season, you know he has a knack for spinning yarn. Now he's taking that talent to the corporate office as the new Sales and Marketing Manager for the series. Check out the full release after the jump...

Mustang Challenge racer moves from the track to the boardroom

Tooele, UT (13 November 2008) – When Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup officials moved forward with plans to grow the series sales and marketing department in preparation for the 2009 season, they didn’t have to far in the search. In fact, the best candidate turned out to be one who was already in the Mustang Challenge paddock.

Jamie Slone of Tucson, Arizona, has joined Mustang Challenge as Sales and Marketing Manager and started his new role this week.  Slone not only brings a wealth of sales and marketing experience to the position from an extensive career in the radio industry, but he also has a keen familiarity with the product, having successfully competed in the inaugural Mustang Challenge championship, taking second in the overall standings on the strength of one win, one pole position, and five podium finishes.

Slone will step away from the cockpit of the Ford Mustang FR500S to fully devote his focus on his new role.

“I always wanted to be on the sales and marketing end of the racing business and when the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series gave me this opportunity, I jumped at it,” said Slone, who closed out his 2008 racing season with a record-setting Formula Mazda pole position at the SCCA Runoffs in October. “While I will miss racing in the series, I’m excited to have the chance to pour my heart and soul into making Mustang Challenge THE Place to Race.”

Slone has experience in a wide range of motorsports categories, and brings a palatable enthusiasm for the unique experience that comprises racing in Mustang Challenge.

“I am so excited about where this series is headed and my time racing in it just confirms that it is competitive, affordable, travels to Americas greatest race tracks and is a whole lot of fun!” offered Slone. “It is a chance for a racer to truly Live the Dream like I did!”

“Our debut season hit every goal we set for the series before the year started, and now we are building on that as we grow our infrastructure and continue to develop Mustang Challenge,” said Series Director Lynda Randall. “So we are tremendously excited to have someone who has the passion, knowledge, and experience that Jamie does to help us keep moving forward. We were fortunate to have such an excellent candidate under our tent already, so we are really looking forward to what we can do together in 2009.”

The 2008 season will be featured in the reality show “WHY WE RACE- The Mustang Challenge.” The show will follow every twist and turn through the season and will be aired on Discovery’s HDNET Theater for three consecutive Sunday’s starting December 7 at 8 PM Eastern.
