Get your minds out of the gutter, people!
Today's blog is directed at 'Stangbangers with limited funds, who sometimes find themselves in need of a door, fender, interior trim piece, 8.8 rear end, or other Mustang parts.
Yes, there are a ton of outlets and sources for new pieces, but, finding a 'Stang that's down on its luck is also a great way to score the stuff you need, without paying premium prices for it.
The Fox-body Mustang in these photos has been sitting in the corner of the parking lot at GTR High Performance for as long as I have been going out there (about three years now).
I believe the car was abandoned or something like that. Actually, its owner may have given the crew at GTR a green light for letting it be dismantled by other Fox owners, who may have needed a piece or two that this hatch still had.
I've seen this hatch get picked apart (I even absconded with a full set of clips and screws for attaching the cowl grille on Project T-top Coupe) with each visit to the shop. I don't know how much cash the carcass has generated for its owner, but the cool thing is that even in the dilapidated state it's in now, Mustang guys can see that there's still plenty of diamonds left in something that looks so rough. In all honesty, hard-core 'Stangbangers with vision would probably say this carcass has rebirth potential; maybe not as a street Mustang, but certainly as a race car (drag race, road race, etc).
I just thought the parts Mustang, in its current state, would make for an interesting blog post. In a way, this 'Stang confirms for me that a Mustang's life doesn't truly "end," until the weight of the crusher has smashed it flat. If you need anything from this shell, give the guys at GTR High Performance a call.
