John "Fireball" Urist has become somewhat of a household name for Mustang enthusiasts and fans of Mustang drag racing who have followed the NMRA for the last decade. For those who don't know, John is the reigning Super Street Outlaw champion, and he is the only NMRA racer to win four world titles in the sanctioning body's history.

Some of you also may not be aware that for the last few years, John's racing effort has been heavily supported by Nitto Tire, and John has been testing and working closely with engineers at Nitto to develop high-quality, competitive racing slicks for the Mustang racing market.

We know the hard-core members of the 'Stang Nation are anxiously waiting for news about Nitto's racing tires, but unfortunately there isn't any news in my blog. What I am here to tell you about today is a new, four-part video series produced by Nitto that highlights John's career and history as a Mustang drag racer.

Key highlights of the video include: John's "threepeat" Super Street Outlaw championships (2006, 2007 and 2008), his accomplishments from a historical perspective, an overview of his journey from sportsman racer to dominant champion, and John's personal testimonial and advice for hopeful Mustang racers, and insights on the things that lie ahead as he prepares for the 2009 racing season.

On with the show...after the jump, of course!

John has won championships in Fox-body and New Edge Mustangs.
Nitto Tire's "Diamond Tree" rings are presented to NMRA world champions each year. John will be going for another one in 2009.
The Hellion team had the championship "bubbly" on ice for the second of John's three-consecutive NMRA Super Street Outlaw titles in 2007.
John cruises to victory in SSO's final round at the '08 NMRA World Finals.
