Everything's Big in Texas

Even though my primary focus is "work"--be it a tech project, covering a race event or show, visiting with aftermarket companies, etc--when I'm on the road, I really enjoy "seeing the sights" in cities I visit, whenever time permits. Having "free time" doesn't happen very often when I'm on the road, so it's important to take advantage of opportunities when they arise.

I'm in Dallas, Texas, right now, working on a super-stealth tech project that I think you'll really dig when my story runs in an upcoming issue of the magazine. I've mentioned in a previous blog (and anybody who knows me already knows) that I am a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. I've loved the Cowboys since childhood, and I have even seen "my team" play in Texas Staduim (four times), and in the Super Bowl. I'm hard-core when it comes to the Cowboys,

Well, with the team preparing to move into a sparkling, state-of-the-art, high-tech, brand-new stadium this season, I really hoped that I would have a chance to see the Cowboys' new crib while I was in town (Big Steve even suggested that I try and check it out). So, during a lunch break, I made it over to the Cowboys' new stadium (it hasn't been given a "corporate" name yet), and was able to get this shot taken.

As stadiums and arenas go, the place is unbelievable! I can't wait 'til I have an opportunity to get inside and see a game in this place!

OK, so, I realize there really needs to be a Mustang "tie" in all of this, so head on across the jump and see what it is...

'Stangs are everywhere you look inside the shop at Gear Head Performance in Arlington, Texas!
Why is this Shelby GT500 on the dyno? Because we had WORK to do on it!

A little more on why I'm in the Lone Star State this week. I'm touring Texas in pursuit of a couple of cool tech projects--at Gear Head Performance in Arlington, and Fastlane Motorsports of Houston.

Yep, we got the call to "do work" down in this region, and thus far I'm really glad we did answer that call. Texas is teaming with Mustangs that are being hopped up in some way shape or form, as evidenced by this photo of the packed house of Ponies at GHP.

So far, so good from the road. Make sure you get the mag (I think it's the July issue) to see what we accomplished during "Texas Week."
