A few weeks ago, Big Steve and I discussed doing a series of reports on good-old, tried-and-true, small-block Ford cylinder heads. Sure, we've done a fair number of profiles on H/C/I packages over the last few years, as well as an in-depth report on camshafts, but the upcoming series will focus on small-block-Ford cylinder heads only, and the castings that are being offered by various manufacturers.

Edelbrock certainly will be included, and we'll definitely have more detail on this brand-new set of  heads, which Edelbrock has named, "E-Street," that I just received word about this morning.

However, for now, get across the jump to get the early line on Edelbrock's latest...

Edelbrock says its affordable (less than $1,000 for a set) "E-Street" small-block Ford, aluminum cylinder heads are designed for improved street performance for 5.0 engines that normally operate in the idle to 5,500 rpm range.

E-Street heads feature bronze valve guides, powdered-metal interlocking valve seats, stainless-steel, one-piece valves with hardened tips, 1.25" diameter valve springs, 3/8" screw-in studs and hardened guide plates, as well as hardened valve-spring cups and threaded inserts in the rocker-stud bosses to ensure proper torque.

E-Streets have an improved combustion chamber design, 170cc intake runners, optional 1.90" or 2.02" diameter intake valves, and larger-than-stock intake and exhaust ports. When matched with an appropriate camshaft and intake manifold, the E-Street heads should really improve a 5.0's overall efficiency, and of course horsepower and torque.
