I can't say this is the first time I've been interviewed "on camera," and my discussion on the type of Mustang we're looking for to be 5.0 Mustang & Super Ford's entry in the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge (www.syntectopcarchallenge.com) is much shorter than 15 minutes, but it definitely was a fun experience.

5. Dude, what are you thinking not mentioning the SN95s?! That's 5 model years of Mustangs, KJ! That means an SN95 will be in the competition, just not my Slobra. LOL

HI KJ my name is Nick Disanti i entered my 03 GT in the syntec top car challenge and on the site it only shows mine and 2 other cars are we the top 3 your gonna pick from or did you alraedy choose a car? If you did could tell me which one you picked caause the site doesnt say and i have to admit i was really hoping it was me. thanks KJ....Nick D.

Hey KJ i have a question about the rules of S.T.C.C. it says the cars have to be street cars with full interior not race cars well whats the limit to where whats considered a race car and a street car? i've noticed in the other magazines they have the cars they picked for the challenge and one has a nissan z thats pretty decked out with 500HP and looks like a race car to me plus in one of the other mags i think it was honda or something they said they won last year with a 1098hp beast well that sonds like a race car to me. I guess i just dont understand this whole challenge thing cause when i drive the streets i dont see nissan z's and other imports next to me at the light looking like that one did nor having 1100hp so if you could can help me on this topic thanks.....Nick D.

13. Well, Nick, I've read the same rules that you've seen, and I guess I'm waiting to see exactly how things go at this event. While I guess there may be some questionable attributes in some of the cars that are entered in the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge by other magazines, I know for certain that our representative's Mustang does fit the "street car" description that we believe is the intent of the competition (normal appearance, full accessories, can be smog tested and will pass sniffer [I think a moderate exemption can be given for visual, as for the most part it's almost impossible to use CARB-approved parts exclusively in California, and still make good power, and aftermarket, non-catalytic exhausts on Mustangs are popular], etc). That's also not to say that cars with 1,000+ horsepower can't be driven on the street (some of the European cars and the Japanese imports can make ferocious power with turbochargers). While we can't enter it, we've got our own 830 (rear-wheel)/about 1,000 (at the crank) horsepower Mustang--Project T-top Coupe--that is legally street driven (registered/insured/streetable/full interior w/LOUD stereo, etc) in SoCal, so yes, "there are ways" of making it happen. However, as I said in my video interview, I don't think horsepower is going to be "everything" in the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge. Suspension really is going to be a big part of this deal, and quite frankly, the AWD cars probably will shine pretty brightly when the road-course evaluation is conducted--provided the driver has skills. The bottom line is that like you, we're also waiting to see how things go at the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge. There are a lot of categories, and I'm confident in the Mustang and its owner we've chosen. Trust that we definitely will point out any flagrant rules violations to judges, and expect our competitors to do the same for our entry, where warranted, and if it appears the violation has been "overlooked." Fair is fair. We understand there are ringers in the group of cars that are competing, but we will have a Mustang and an enthusiast that embody what we feel is the true spirit of the competition, representing 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords.

15. General observation/opinion. The CARB-endorsed parts are what they are. However, when you really want to make big steam, you've got to select stuff that's "outside the box." Applies to 'Stangs, imports, Euros, whatever.
