The Beautiful Dream

Me, a 2010 ROUSH 427R Mustang and 26 Miles of Blessed Boulevard

With Labor Day upon us, and the unofficial "end of summer" now here, I look back on the months between May and now, and have to admit that despite a few challenges--personal, professional and other--I really did have a pretty good summer.

Attending the 15th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit was one of the highlights of my August, and I "did it big," if you will, behind the wheel of a brand-spankin'-new ROUSH 427R Mustang.

Big Steve gave up a full review of the awesome 'Stang in our October '09 issue, so I didn't have any real "work" obligations other than to drive the car, have fun and enjoy the Dream Cruise, which I most-definitely did.

Here are some of the photo highlights for 'ya. After the jump, of course...

I had a great time at the Woodward Dream Crusise. If you're a true "car guy," brand-affiliation or loyalty aside, I definitely recommend you attend this event. It's held annually, during the second weekend in August.

Good times. Good times. Thanks again, Roush Performance!

This clean white Fox and equally nice orange SN-95 were on display at the "Back to the Bricks" cruise in Flint, Michigan. Just one of the many awesome "car guy" stops I made during the Dream Cruise weekend.
This Saleen at the pump was perfect...and sports the Sunburst Gold color that I'm truly a fan of.
The 427R got a TON of "love," everywhere I drove and/or parked it.
Comfortable seats highlight the cool cockpit, which is stock for the most part (the boost gauge in the HVAC vent is cool, though).
Ford gets kudos for this billboard on Woodward Ave at 13 Mile. Every few minutes, the rear tires spin into a smoke-churning burnout.
Naturally aspirated 331...runs 10s...drives everywhere, with a baby seat behind the driver!
If you could look up, "one of one-hundred made" in the dictionary, you'd probably see a photo of this SN-95 Indy Pace Car. Yeah, it's real. The things you see on Woodward Ave are awesome.
This bad-ass GT came banging into the Shell parking lot at Woodward and 13 Mile and drew instant attention. It's look, stance and growl, and the two cats who climed over the roll cage to get out, all just smacked of, "Street Racer" and I loved it!
Who are these two Mustang guys?!
One thing I have to say about the Woodward Dream Cruise experience is, although the event was stacked with Brand-X machines, there were plenty of Mustangs as well, like this S197...standing tall among the other hot rods at a stop light.
