TULSA, OKLA. – June 25, 2009 – Shelby Automobiles, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc., (CSBI.PK) unveiled today two new 500+ horsepower post-title packages for 2005-2009 Ford Mustang GTs during the 35th Mid America Ford and Team Shelby Nationals in Tulsa, Okla. The 500 HP “Shelby Supercharged” and 550 HP “SR” packages include serious performance upgrades and exterior styling cues. Both 50-state legal packages can only be installed at Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas or an authorized Shelby Mod Shop beginning September 2009.
“In traditional Shelby style, both amazing packages will give Mustang GT owners a competitive edge on the track as well as styling that will set their Pony car apart from anything else on the street,” said Amy Boylan, president of Shelby Automobiles. “While both cars pack a wallop and are seriously sexy, we’re offering two levels of performance depending on an enthusiast’s intent. The Shelby Supercharged really enhances the capabilities of the Mustang GT while the SR makes the pony car an impressive track performer, too.”
The Shelby Supercharged package includes a Kenne Bell Supercharger that cranks out 500 HP. In addition, to this increase in horsepower, the package includes improvements to the Mustang GTs handling, styling and stopping power. Owners of 2005-2009 Mustang GTs can bring their cars to the Las Vegas factory or authorized Shelby Mod Shop to have the work completed and registered in the official factory registry.
The Shelby SR pushes the performance envelope to an entirely new level. With a 500 HP Kenne Bell/ Shelby supercharger (a 550 HP Shelby/Ford Racing unit is optional), Shelby/Baer 6 piston brakes, fully adjustable Eibach suspension, rear Watts Link and other race style equipment, the SR is perfect for track days as well as the street. Only 1,000 Shelby SRs per model year will be built.
“The performance on the SR is totally amazing,” added Gary Davis, vice president of production. “With 550 horses coupled to a short throw shifter, serious brakes and competition inspired suspension, this machine can really move. I especially like it with the optional six speed tranny.”
