"As the Wheel Turns"

Will Big Steve's Fox Project Ever Get Its New Wheels?

Even though the bulk of our project-car coverage is presented in the magazine, we sometimes post blogs that contain tidbits of information and/or a photo or two of  a build's progress.

Well, in all actuality, I'm usually the 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords staff member who blogs about our team's Mustangs-in-progress, and Boss 340 has been the project Mustang that has been discussed the most in this forum.

Today, I'm giving you all a small piece of info on a different project car: Editor Steve Turner's T-top Mustang LX--Project Fox 500--yeah, the hatchback 'Stang with the Shelby GT500 running gear--that's the one.

Hop across the jump for the update on this Mustang drama...

I recently caught up with "True Forged" Steve Medina, owner of True Forged wheels, and caught a preview of the custom, "one-off," 18-inch wheels that are being developed for Big Steve's new Fox.

Due to the project Mustang's unique front/rear suspension and ginormous brake hardware, and Editor Turner's design and dimension requirements, the wheels have been in development for quite some time now because they're just not, well, "normal" for a '79-'93 Pony.

I just wanted to post this message today to let Steve and anyone else who is following this never-ending saga, know that Fox 500's True Forged "Chicane" style hoops are almost finished. I've seen 'em. They just need a little more final touching up and hopefully our editor will have them soon.

Sorry, just doing some teasing, visually. No "big picture" in this report. I'll leave the official photo release to Big Steve. So, if everything goes well, he should be showing them off at some point this month.
