GREENVILLE, S.C. – July 9, 2009 – This Sunday, July 12, BFGoodrich Tires will give 25 consumers the experience of a lifetime at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the KDW Shotgun Challenge.  The lucky consumers will ride shotgun next to nine professional drivers who will showcase the capabilities of the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires through a variety of high-performance vehicles representing motorsports from all walks of life including drifting, time attack, rally, road racing and street tuning.

“The KDW Shotgun Challenge is an exciting way for BFGoodrich to showcase the breadth of the brand and the performance capabilities of the product,” said Doug Brown, brand category manager at BFGoodrich Tires. “Rarely is there an opportunity for such an interesting collection of cars and drivers to be in one environment celebrating one terrific tire.”

All ten high-performance vehicles will be fitted with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires and pushed to their limits in celebration of the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tire line extension.  Due to consumer demand, BFGoodrich will begin the line extension by releasing the 235/50ZR17 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW in July with additional sizes rolling out through October for a total of eleven new dimensions in the unique “New Tread” of the KDW line.

The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires will be screaming around Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s outfield road course, which can be configured six different ways, with a max length of 2.4 heart-pumping miles.  Watch the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW conquer every turn and show the passengers what ultra high-performance is all about live on Sunday, July 12 beginning at 7 a.m. at www.kdwchallenge.com.  For the latest news and photos, follow the KDW Shotgun Challenge on Twitter @bfgkdwchallenge.

The following teams and drivers will be burning up the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A®KDW tires:

Samuel Hubinette/Team NuFormz

Samuel Hubinette and Team NuFormz will be shredding up the track in the infamous 825 horsepower Dodge Viper SRT-10 that Hubinette competes with in the Formula DRIFT series.  Hubinette was Formula DRIFT series champion in ‘04 and ‘06 and runner-up in ‘05.  He’s currently fourth in the 2009 Formula DRIFT standings.

Dave Brown/WORKS Motorsports and Lars Wolfe/WORKS Motorsports

The WORKS crew will bring a ‘09 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, which is yet to hit the dealers.  The Ralliart Rally vehicle has custom ECU tuning for anti-lag, and with an upgraded EVO X turbo, its engine delivers 400-horsepower.  Other features include paddle shifters and an FIA approved cage.

The WORKS crew will also provide their menacing ‘08 Mitsubishi EVO X GSR and Mitsubishi EVO 8.  The WORKS Mitsubishi ‘08 Mitsubishi EVO X GSR is a test bed for the latest in race engineering.  Works’ ECU Flash with Boost control and a custom turbo help deliver 500-horsepower.

Dave Brown and Lars Wolfe of WORKS Motorsports will share the driving duties.  Brown has won 15 series championships in as many years of racing and has more than 200 career victories.  Wolfe placed third in the Rally America Championship ‘07 and second in the NASA Western Enduro Championship in ‘08.

Veronica Peyon/Opak Spoon Racing and Gaby Dela Merced/Opak Spoon Racing

Opak Spoon Racing will showcase two of its competition vehicles including the Spoon Sports Honda Civic TypeR and Spoon Sports Accord EuroR.  Both vehicles pack a K20A, 2.0L engine and factory 6-speed transmission.  The Civic TypeR is right hand drive, so the passenger will sit “left seat” for a real ride.

Opak Spoon Racing’s very own Veronica Peyon and Gaby Dela Merced will be behind the wheel.  Peyon is the first Peruvian female drive to compete in the U.S. and is currently competing in the ‘09 NASA Western Endurance Race Championship series.  Merced’s accomplishments include SVI Challenge runner-up in ‘03, Formula BMW Asia Scholarship in ‘04 and Asian Formula 3 runner-up in ‘06.  She’s currently competing in the ‘09 NASA Western Endurance Race Championship series.

Jason Childress/Gateway Classic Mustang

Jason Childress from Gateway Classic Mustang will be bringing out their 1968 Mustang Coupe track car all the way from Missouri.  Gateway built the ‘68 as an R&D test vehicle to prove that Gateway builds cars meant to perform at the extreme and highlight the partnership with RRS Suspension Products.  The ‘68 is powered by a Rousch 368 Ford Small Block with 550-horsepower.

Jodin Lejeune/Drift Emporium and Ron Ewerth/Drift Emporium

Drift Emporium will provide their twin Stillen supercharged Titan V8 Infiniti G35 vehicles, both with custom cams, headers and exhaust.  Drift Emporium’s Jodin Lejeune and Ron Ewerth will be manning the controls.

James Robinson/Team Honda Research

Team Honda Research will attend the festivities packing their 3.5 liter, 500-horsepower twin turbo 2010 Honda Element.  James Robinson will be on hand delivering the joy and fear to the participants.

In addition to the incredible performance vehicles that will be used for Sunday’s ridealongs, several other vehicles will be on display. These include Rich Evans Designs’ 460-horsepower “Hardcore Knight” GT Mustang and D&P Chevy’s ‘71 Chevelle properly named “Full Yella Jacket.”  This eclectic mix of vehicles, all on BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires, will make for one exciting day at the track.

BFGoodrich Tires’ g-Force T/A KDW is the ultimate go-to ultra high-performance tire.  With more than 80 sizes ranging from 15” to 24,” the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW covers more car, truck and SUV fitments than any other UHP tire line.  The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tire features the highest level of balanced wet or dry performance in the industry, providing stability in rain or shine, using a double compound silica reinforced tread and unidirectional tread design.

The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW is the perfect tire for customized performance vehicles where you seek outstanding performance and improved appearance.  Performance features include:

Race Inspired Tread Design; the KDWs uni-directional tread design brings wicked grip in both dry and wet conditions.

Special grooves for wet traction; deep, wide grooves help channel away water quickly to prevent hydroplaning allowing confidence in less than perfect conditions.

Unique Tread Elements; large tread elements don’t just give the KDW its nasty look.  They also create top-notch stability, wear and handling in high-performance situations.

Rounded Shoulder Profile; when pushing the KDW to the limit of adhesion, the shoulder profile helps increase predictability.

G-Control Sidewall Inserts; never back down from a corner again.  The sidewall inserts help resist deflection, resulting in jaw-dropping cornering force at high speeds.
