I have never been to the House of Boost, and probably won't get there anytime soon. However, if there was ever a good time to go see my boys Erik, Dorian, and Shaun, it's September 19th, 2009. The House of Boost is having its open house and diabetes fundraiser the same day. Go check out some cool, fast rides and help raise money for a good cause at the same time. Get the info after the jump...

What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors appear to play roles.

There are 23.6 million children and adults in the United States, 7.8% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 17.9 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 5.7 million people (nearly one quarter) are unaware that they have the disease.

American Diabetes Association
The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fighting for those affected by diabetes. The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective a nd credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes. Founded in 1940, their mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
