With less than a month remaining before we head out to Las Vegas for the PSCA's Street Car Super Nationals V, I just wanted to throw this reminder at those of you in the western states (and I'm not just talking Cali and Arizona, either) that SCSN is one drag-race event that you really don't want to miss.
The race, held annually at the magnificent "'Strip" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, brings some of the nation's quickest, fastest, doorslammer, head's-up race cars to the West, including such NMRA notables as Pro 10.5 Outlaw veteran Mike Murillo and Hot Street's Mike DeMayo, as well as Mustang-driving PSCA racers such as Doug Sikora, Gary Brandt, David Schwarz and others in the "big dog" classes.
As someone who has attended all of the SCSN races thus far, I have to say it truly is a bad-ass event. However, there's one thing in particular that makes this deal extra special for Mustang racers like myself. Find out what it is, after the jump...
My main motivation for getting to SCSN V this year is to compete in the Ford Racing Performance Parts "Mustang Maddness" class (a Mustangs ONLY eliminator) and if you're hardcore about 'Stang racing, it should be your motivation, too!
With an Open Comp format (racers compete against each other using one-tenth-factored e.t. indexes they establish during qualifying sessions), "Mustang Maddness" is a class that gives anyone with a Ford-powered 'Stang of any year and configuration, a chance to square off and race against like-minded enthusiasts.
While our original plan was to debut Project Boss 340 at this year's SCSN, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. However, me and the crew at A.R.E. Performance & Machine of Simi Valley, California (www.areperformance.com) are going to give Project T-top Coupe a good going over, and have our rare '86 notchback ready to rock for the November 19-22 showdown in Las Vegas.
FRPP's Mustang Maddness has its own group of "contenders" that include former SCSN champion Scott Dool, PSCA Mustang Maddness champ Dan Marciano, Paul "The V6 Bandit" Huizenga, Kirk Bouchard, Paul Wolfe, Chuck "Pineapple Express" Keehne Jr and many more (http://www.streetcarsupernationals.com/mmcontend.html).
If you're a true-blue Ford fan and hardcore about Mustang racing, and seriously fast, heads-up, Outlaw-style "street car" racing in general, PSCA's Street Car Super Nationals V is where you want to be in a few weeks.
Consider yourselves advised. I hope I see you out there!
