Updates on the ongoing Project Roadkill have been slow in coming. However, we just back from MV Performance where we were able to check out the car's new gauges. Find out more details after the jump...
For Project Roadkill, we went with Auto Meter's Nexus gauges, pairing them up with a custom cluster from JME Enterprises. MV installed the gauge cluster in the car in time for my arrival early last week. In one word, the gauges are amazing. Working with Auto Meter, I sent out the gauges to JME for them to set up and install in one of their custom gauge clusters, along with an A-pillar pod. JME put the package together for the car, and everyone involved has been blown away from seeing them in action. The gauges were the stars of MV Performance during my visit.
Auto Meter's Nexus gauges communicate with each other, and have several electrical components to make that possible. The gauges have a full sweep motion, and at start-up they go through a test circuit before resuming normal function. The gauges even have a remote so make color changes as easy as pushing a button. It wasn't easy to pair the gauges with the cluster, but the results speak for themselves. JME did a fantastic job getting them up and running, and I was so blown away by the gauges I would often sit in the car and turn the key just to see the start-up function. I can't wait to see the gauges in operation on a more-permanent basis.
Getting the gauges fully-operational plays a key role in getting the car itself fully-operational. MV's Tim Matherly is in the process of tuning the car, and then it's off to paint jail at Carnes Customs where its stay won't be long.
