LIVONIA, Mich. (December 18, 2009) – In a year-long race, Gary Yeomans Ford slipped past the reigning champion Lance Cunningham Ford and captured the ROUSH® Performance top dealer award for 2009.
The top dealer for 2009 was tabulated by calculating the overall sales for ROUSH vehicles, high-performance parts and propane trucks and kits. ROUSH Performance has more than 400 dealers across the United States and Canada so being named the best of the group is quite an accomplishment.
“We committed ourselves to be the number one ROUSH dealer at the beginning of the year and did everything we could to achieve that goal. I’m thrilled to accept this honor on behalf of all the employees at Gary Yeomans Ford. This award has everyone at the dealership all pumped up and they are really happy that we won,” said Carlos Lira, general manager/owner of Gary Yeomans Ford.
Lance Cunningham Ford in Knoxville, Tenn., was the top ROUSH® dealer in 2007 and 2008, but fell to second place this year. Rounding out the top-five overall ROUSH dealers were Brandon Ford (Tampa, Fla.), Ray Skillman Ford (Greenwood, Ind.) and Dana Ford Lincoln Mercury (Staten Island, N.Y.).
“This was quite a contest for the top ROUSH dealer award this year and it came down to the final few weeks. I am proud of everyone at both Gary Yeomans Ford and Lance Cunningham Ford. Both organizations wanted the title and both worked extremely hard all year long. It’s always fun when someone new wins the top dealer award, we congratulate all the employees of Gary Yeomans on winning this year,” said Joe Thompson, ROUSH Performance vice president and general manager.
“There is no question that this year was challenging for the entire auto industry,” he continued. “Yet the dealers that carried the ROUSH vehicles, parts, and propane line were able to use these types of ‘halo’ products to differentiate themselves from the field and continue to draw in the traffic. The right product, like ROUSH, presented correctly, will continue to sell. I’m optimistic that 2010 will continue to be strong for the ROUSH dealers and we will have another battle for the number one dealer award next year.”

Though the overall market for vehicle sales has slowed significantly, many dealers are discovering that the demand for performance vehicles and parts remains high. Consequently, those outlets that carry ROUSH products are finding a new profit center and able to supplement their sales during a challenging economic period.
