Guardians of Animals has announced the winner of their first raffle to help stop notorious puppy mills. Mr. Jerry McCarthy of New London, Wisc., won $26,860, along with Las Vegas hotel accommodations, a tour of the Shelby American factory and a Barrett-Jackson VIP package valued at $2,000. McCarthy purchased the winning ticket through a Team Shelby e-blast promoting the contest.
The winning package includes:
· $26,860 in cash
· A VIP package for the 2010 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach event on April 1-3 with two VIP passes, one parking pass, two tickets to the Opening Night Gala and one Event Program
· Free installation of a Kicker audio system in Mr. McCarthy’s Shelby GT500 Super Snake

“Our goal was to raise enough money to award the Ford Shelby GT500KR, but unfortunately ticket sales did not reach the minimum needed to purchase the car,” added Ms. Reece. “So as we promised, we awarded half of the money and the rest of the package to the winner. Mr. McCarthy, who currently owns a Super Snake Shelby GT500, was delighted to have supported our cause and to receive his prize. We thank everyone who was part of our first raffle event this year.”
Guardians of Animals, which is based in Charlotte, N.C., is run by volunteers who are deeply dedicated to the welfare of animals. The 501C3 organization’s primary focus is to reduce “puppy mills”, which are places where dogs are used solely for breeding purposes while being kept in small cages.
The 100 percent volunteer organization helps in the following ways:
· Investigate puppy mills
· Take possession of abused/neglected animals
· Educate pet stores to not purchase from puppy mills
· Educate consumers to ask more questions about where their new pet comes from
· Educate children to spot harmful behavior towards animals
