Well, since I know that most of you who subscribe to 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords have received your July 2011 issues by now (or will probably receive them this week), I'm OK with giving you this little update on the Tricked-out 408 "Clevor" engine that you hopefully took the time to read about.
If you haven't read "Hot in Cleveland" yet (the story is on page 70), I really think you should. In the meantime though, head across the jump for a few notes on what's in store...
Well, as the photo shows, the 408 stroker featuring Trick Flow Specialties' all-new, 351 Cleveland top-half components (PowerPort 225 cylinder heads and R-Series EFI Cleveland intake manifold) has been lowered into Greg Montoya's clean '89 GT.
I'd love to share more info than that, but, it really is more fun keeping you all anxiously waiting for the next installment in the 408 Clevor series. Did you get the pun there? I will let you know that Greg's DIY, in-the-driveway installation of the radical Clevor engine is the topic of my next report in 5.0, which I believe will be in the September issue. If you're interested in building a similar Clevor and installing it in a Fox-body Mustang, you're not gonna want to miss the rest of this project series, which I've affectionately named, "Project Leave It to Clevor."
Yes, the engine is in and it does run...very, very well, I might add (on Sunday, a certain '03-'04 Cobra owner found out first-hand "how well"). But, don't count on finding any details about the stroked 'Stang's driveability, tuning or all-important dyno numbers online. You're not gonna find them. All parties involved are sworn to secrecy and Internet silence, so you'll have to keep yourselves plugged into the magazine (and my blogs) for all the critical info on this project.
