I was putting some stuff away in my shop yesterday, and I came across this turbocharger that has been sitting on one of the shelves...for more years than I can remember.
While this turbo isn't really an optimal piece for a Mustang-performance application (it's a Service Replacement part for a Powerstroke diesel), the discovery got me to thinkin'...
...."Maybe it's time for me to put a turbo--or turboS--on one of our project cars!"
Over the years, I've really become more and more impressed with how cool turbo 'Stangs really are. Turbocharged race Mustangs or street Mustangs; it really doesn't matter. Hearing 'em spool up and the "whoooshshshshshshshsh" noise that turbos and their bypass valve/waste gates make, definitely is "the business (extremely cool)" in my book.
I'm actually still quite a ways off from actually starting a new "from scratch" project Mustang (remember, the completion of Boss 340 still has to happen), and I think the two supercharged Ponies I've built are going to keep those power adders.
But, I've definitely got "turbo on the brain" now, thanks to this little head unit that I came across in the shop. Whoooooooshshshshshshshshshshshsh!
