Never Forget

More Important than Mustangs

The forecast calls for temperatures in the low 100s today, but that's not stopping us from heading out to Auto Club Dragway, for an afternoon Test and Tune session with Greg Montoya's 408 Clevor-powered '89 GT.

Testing is serious business. There's no doubt about its importance. However, there's actually a more-important matter on my mind. Something that actually is far more important than sending Greg's 'Stang or any other cars down the 1,320.

I'll tell you about it, after the jump...

Semper Fi...and THANK YOU!

In all honesty, we're not looking for or expecting any "world-on-fire" e.t. or speed in the heat today; just trying to see if a few suspension tweaks have made any difference in the 'Stang's launch and short time. But, with that said, I can't think of a better way to start the weekend...especially a weekend that means a lot to me, and I sure do hope it means a lot to you all, too.

As you all know, Sunday is the 10th anniversary of "9/11." It's impossible to put that ugly day in a section of your mind where you won't or can't remember it. I'll be back at the track on Sunday watching the PSCA event, but I'm sure my mind will be on "the anniversary" all day.

I'm the proud father of the United States Marines Sergeant you see here. My son has served (twice) in the conflict that followed the terrorist attacks on our country.

As a Marine's dad and a proud American, I'm also rather fond of our country's National Anthem. When it's played or sung at NMRA events I attend, my signature 5.0 bucket hat is removed from my head (no matter how strong the sun is blazing), my right hand is over my heart, and I sing every word of the song (to myself, of course...'cause I'm not a good singer).

This Sunday won't be any different. Then again, maybe it will be slightly different; I'm pretty sure once in a while, a few tears of  remembrance for those who perished on that day (and for the pride I have in my son and our country) will well up in my eyes. Yeah, I'm emotional like that sometimes. Times like this Sunday, where Mustangs are the second thought.

September 11, 2001. NEVER FORGET!
