Have you ever bought or acquired a part for your Mustang that you just can't help admiring, OK, oogling (did I spell that correctly?) over, simply because it's...well...in your opinion..."sexy?"
Well, that's the way I feel about one of the pieces that we'll be trying on our 1986 T-top coupe LX, and another one of our project Mustangs.
Head across the jump for details...
The gorgeous 90mm throttle body shown in the photos is made by Wilson Manifolds. Yes, they're better known for being "lords of the intake manifold (you may recall the fantastic, EFI, works of art that my buddy, Gaby Labiosa, and his team created for our Boss 340 project engine)," but there are several other areas of induction that Wilson Manifolds makes parts for.
Based on the success we had with Boss 340's Wilson intake and 1136 cfm, 4-barrel-style throttle body, I decided to go with the company's 90mm piece (PN 471090T; $387.18) for Project T-top Coupe's new induction setup, which features a Vortech mondo intercooler.
Since the "Igloo" 'cooler has a 90mm flange, I think that this CNC-machined, 6061-T6 billet TB (which just happens to move 1170 cfm) will be perfect for handling the rush of supercharged air that will be headed its way when the throttle is nailed.
It's crazy the things that we consider beautiful, isn't it? Excuse me while I get back to drooling.
