Alright...the time has come.
We're at it again with Project T-top coupe; this time, putting what hopefully are final touches on its reassembly and bringing its Paxton-supercharged, A.R.E. Performance & Machine-built bullet to life.
Details on this neat, new gizmo we're testing come after the jump..
If you've followed the build, break and rebuild series on our 1986 Mustang LX coupe, you'll know that we've already achieved a total of 866 rear-wheel horsepower and 727 lb-ft of torque with Couptie.
In addition to the engine and Novi 2000 supercharger, that performance is made possible with FAST's XFI, an electronic fuel injection system that has gone above and beyond as far as meeting all requirements for bridging what can be a huge gap between racecar-like horsepower, and street-driven Mustangs.
Our latest iteration of T-top coupe features engine upgrades, as well as a major accessory upgrade for the blower (a Vortech Mondo intercooler). The revival also includes a new version of the XFI--version 2.0--which we're really excited about trying.
The thrash begins on Monday, and we're hoping to have the coupe driving out of the shop by Tuesday afternoon, as there technically isn't "a lot" of finishing work that needs to be done.
I'll take a second to be bluntly honest with you all...The mere thought of possibly having one-THOUSAND rear-wheel horsepower (or more) at my right foot's command, makes me tingle from head-to-toe!
Stay tuned for whatever updates I can muster here, and, of course, a detailed account of the entire final stage in an upcoming issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords!
