The original 5.0 Shootout kickstarted the entire late-model racing movement. The NMRA is embracing that spirit with today's Coyotes at its Ohio event. Check out the official words after the jump...
Who has the baddest Coyote-powered 5.0L Mustang on the planet? Do you want to know? Yeah, so do we...and that’s why the NMRA series will host the first ever 2011-2014 5.0L Mustang Shootout at the McLeod Racing NMRA Ford Nationals event at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, the weekend of June 14-16, 2013.
Thanks to Granatelli Motor Sports, we built a modern 5.0 Shootout to bring out the latest and greatest 2011-2014 5.0 Mustangs from the hottest builders and enthusiasts around the country. The biggest media outlets will be covering the madness and the title is on the line—no more internet talk, no more chassis dyno numbers, it is time to get on track and put up or shut up! You can’t be the undisputed 5.0 kingpin if you don’t show up and race.
“When I owned Paxton, we were instrumental in starting the first 5.0 Shootout so it’s an honor to be helping bring out the next generation 5.0 Shootout,” says JR Granatelli, owner and founder of Granatelli Motor Sports. GMS is the title sponsor and manufacturer of several products for the 2011-Present Mustang platform including the Coyote Coils that are on many of the big power 5.0 cars and are run by the defending NMRA Coyote Stock world champion. Will the 5.0 Shootout lead to the next version of Pro 5.0? There are also rumors that NMRA tech officials will be using the results to help build a new heads-up category. Come to Norwalk to find out!
